Noticing Abuse

Have you ever noticed something strange or felt uneasy with behavior of a child? I'm talking about not just acting out behavior but shyness, withdrawn, unusual. If you haven't noticed or said something, you may have missed an abused child. Susan...

Not One

A shadow of a smile crossed her face.
Eyes sparkling blue, but sad, empty.
Others said, "Such beautiful grace."
They saw it as a gift to her beauty.
The young one quivered when
touched, but only she was aware.

Why would such a graceful child
not welcome innocence of touch?
Not one person questioned her.
Not one was sensitive enough to
know her need for protection.
Not even one...

Not one...

Not one...

Communicate

Below are a couple of quotes I read while on the internet yesterday. They relate to communication and speech. Although there are other types of communication, I believe speaking and writing are the two most important and misunderstood. Susan...

"That rage will bring me attention, but language will bring me out from isolation."⠀
"It is coming to understand the critical role of communication from the experiences I have had, such as being locked up in that bathroom stall on my first days of preschool. That if I do not end up communicating my wants and fears and needs in words as opposed to screams and punches and kicks, I will end up in a place very similar to a bathroom stall. That words will unlock me from that stall. Only words will save my life. That rage will bring me attention, but language will bring me out from isolation."⠀What It's Like To Lose Your Short-Term Memory. Christine Hyung-Oak Lee

Hope True or False

Hope

Sometimes I feel like the word "hope" is a loaded word. It is so commonly used when talking with others that it is said as a cliché or like a common goodbye. And I wondered if we were doing more harm than good by using it without much thought at all. Wikipedia says:

"Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large. As a verb, its definitions include: "expect with confidence" and "to cherish a desire with anticipation".

Affirm Yourself, Affirm Spring

It's been a hectic few weeks, at least for me. Spring is slowly making itself known again  with daffodils, tulips, and kids on Spring Break. Easter is past us for another year when we will again celebrate Him being risen after taking all the sin of the world away from us. I woke up today to a sunny spring day and wanted to share it with you. Susan...

Joy and Faith

Today, I speak about Joy and Faith. My joy comes  because Jesus arose from the grave and gave all a new way by following Him. But joy is dependent on our faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior. Susan...
